Where are CFIs making that much? I currently make about $7.50/hour as a CFI. I do get health insurance and guaranteed students though which is why most people are attracted to the job at that low of a pay rate. I've wanted to change jobs for a while because making minimum wage really hurts the wallet.
I was getting $23/hr in 2007, flight and ground. I was a brand new CFI at a FBO in West Palm Beach. They paid for my CFII training as well... Plenty of good opportunities out there for those willing to move.
