On another note, I had a Skywest jumpseater the other day. Poor guy has been with them for 4 years, still on Reserve and has a 3rd circle of hell schedule that goes something like 6 on 2 off. Plus he commutes.

He said that this past year alone he has called in sick 36 times.
Like others have said, it's by choice. He is definitely living in a small, senior base. I've been at SkyWest 7 months, and have had a line for the past 5 months, with about 16 days off/month.

I totally understand wanting to live in base. But I don't understand those that do it and also feel they deserve an awesome schedule.
