VPAA Co.

Order 2011-11-32
OST-2011-0198
- Registration of Name Change and Reissuance of Commuter Air Carrier Authority

Issued and Served November 28, 2011

Order Reissuing Commuter Air Carrier Authorization

On October 28, 2011, VPAA Co., a US commuter air carrier1, filed an application in Docket OST-2011-0198 requesting reissuance of its commuter authorization in the name of “Silver Airways Corp.” VPAA states that it now wishes to change its corporate name to better harmonize the company’s corporate and business names. Moreover, the air carrier states that this is a change in corporate name only and does not constitute a change in operations, ownership, or management and that the change in the corporate name was accomplished on November 1, 2011, by an amendment to its articles of incorporation. Furthermore, the air carrier states that it will continue to perform some of its operations using the trade names “Gulfstream International Airlines,” “Island Air,” “Continental Connection,” and “United Express,” and also wishes to register the new trade names “Silver Airways” and “Go Silver.”

Part 215 of the Department’s regulations provides that any air carrier wishing to change its name must first register that name with the Department. The rule further states that the Department may register such name after the air carrier gives notification to similarly named air carriers of the proposed use of the name. In this case, there are no similarly named air carriers.

By this order, we reissue the Commuter Air Carrier Authorization held by VPAA to reflect the change in corporate name.
