"NWA management today announced that NWA intends to place 36 CRJ-900 aircraft, operated with 76 seats (12 first class, 64 coach), at Mesaba Airlines. With Northwest's previously announced plan to acquire Mesaba, the placement of these aircraft at Mesaba constitutes a violation of Section 1 (scope) of the pilot contract. The NWA MEC has previously advised NWA management that this violation would occur if the aircraft were placed at Mesaba. Absent a swift resolution of this issue, the NWA MEC will be filing the appropriate grievance, which will be processed on an expedited basis."
I just read that because NWA forged out the plans to buy mesaba before exiting bankruptcy and then announcing the purchase of mesaba, and the allocation of planes after announcing the transaction, that they are in violation of the scope clause with nwa pilots. from what i read in their scope is that any new flying for nwa will be done by nwa pilots first, then everyone else, and that also no other regional can fly more than 20 of the 76 seat planes.
