Interview 11/30/2011

This was my first airline interview ever and quite honestly I think this will be my easiest interview I will ever have in my airline career. I already had a head's up on what to expect.A friend of mine interviewed from them last week and he had no technical questions during the initial interview.Don't take it for granted that you won't get have any technical questions, because the gentleman that was their asked the Training ops lady if she had any approach/enroute charts available. Sadly, she didn't

I gave a quick overview of my life history about where I was from, why I was interested into aviation.

I pretty much got asked straight forward questions.

1) Have you failed any checkrides, pinkslips so on and so forth.

2)How did you do in training at FlightSafety Academy

3)Any CRM time?
( I told them of a story which involved CRM that came out in a bad way for a pilot when I was in the Sim for the PC12. Due to the flying pilots negligence, he flew off course inbound on approach think "macho".I told them how I tried to alert the pilot of the situation but he told me that he knew what he was doing and let him do things himself. So I succumed(sp) to "resignation" on purpose. They understood why I did so through.Next question?

What would you have done differently?

4)What sets you a part and/or positive aspects to you as a person/pilot?

5)Willing to relocate?Say Billings or Pennsylvania?

And that was pretty much it.

As for to clear up any rumors.

Gulfstream will be changing their name. It's not silver, its not vpaa ..This is to be announced sometime in the near future.

Pay 19.xx hr you could POTENTIALLY make more than 1500 a month.
After a year it bumps to around 19.7x/hr (don't remember exact figures) then every June a raise comes.Within 2 year's you'll be making 20.xx/hr

Pilots fly typically 65-80 hours per month BUT have the opportunity to fly more. The gentleman in I was in the interview with told me he flew 120 hours one month.

After Gulfstream's Chapter. 11 Filing. They are under complete new management.Throw what you heard about the old Gulfstream out the window.**Note while in the HR office, one lady in particular had a stone paper weight, which said GIA EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH 2005.(You be the judge)

No more PFT.Now it's a signed 2 year contract. For every month of service 1000 is deducted from the training fee.(You guy's do the math to see why it's 24k,I'm still confused and it still seems like PFT.2 year contract just sounds nicer and easier on the ears)

New High's more than likely will be going to Billings or PA.

With age in class comes seniority.

Also they will be transitioning over to the Saab 340's.And more than likely you'll get a type for that if your there for 2 years. <-- my thoughts.

BRING AN EXTRA RESUME AND GET REST.

Essentials

Government/Photo ID
Passport <--- By training day 1
Birth Certificate is okay if no passport
Valid Medical
Pilots license
After all was said and done.I filled out HR paper work and took my fingerprints.I do the simm and written test tomorrow.Hope this helps.
