If you land in Memphis you can be "hub turned" with less than 24 hrs notice. Always call after block in.
Once you've called in, or before starting a hub turn capable trip, I wouldn't accept an assignment with less than 24 hrs notification. They've tried and sometimes failed when challenged.
BTW, there is no polite scolding. They forget to give 1 in 7 and/or relish the power rush of giving it instead of you just taking it. To rob them of this joy is a no no.
To use R24 as intended is against scheduling policy. Good question for the Senior Manager, if you ever see him.
