So about the expiring cards thing. I sent my original card in August of 2010. This August, I was flying with an F/O who was a DPA guy. I asked him about my card expiring. He conveniently had a card with him. I filled it out, wrote "renewal" on the top, and he offered to take it and mail it in for me. Piece of cake.
It would be very easy to go to the DPA web site, print out a card, and send it in. With this latest slot swap fiasco and it becoming ever more clear that DALPA does not represent our best interests... I would encourage any and all to send in a card. If you've already sent one in and it has expired or is getting close to expiring.... go to the web site, print it out and send it in. If you haven't already sent one in... go to the web site, print it out and send it in.
Take the few minutes it takes to do this. It's only your career. And DALPA is not effectively representing us.
You rock, my soon to be polar dwelling brethren.
I just hope the other guys that have sent theirs in will take the time to renew them as well. I'm afraid there may be a big backslide in actual cards as the year comes up.
