Well, here's the thing, I've actually done research under a grant. I guess you think they are "handing these things out" to anyone who wants them, but nothing is further from the truth. If you don't support your findings/proposal and use scientific process, you look like an idiot and there are no grants to be found. I'm not sure what kind of "holiday" you think this stuff is for these people.

These "scientists" are usually students working on degees under the guidance of professors, the professors are the ones that usually stamp their name on the reports in many cases, but in some cases the students do and in some cases it's just those professors, but they aren't a bunch of people wearing lab coats with goggles that go to work and play with chemistry sets all day or something.

It sure is easy for you to sit on the sidelines and try to knock those who actually go through scientific process. Why don't you put your money where your mouth is and do the same thing? I guess I'm living proof that it's possible to not be "corrupted"...
