It is true that someone can be pretty much booted from the ranks of active duty for terrible performance or an abusive personality only to go to the Reserves and march right up the chain. Most of the guys in the Reserves just want to show up and fly. If there is someone who wants to go the extra mile and do the crappy jobs that enable guys to just show up and fly then they can move up the chain. Plenty of turds can float to the top using this method.
