You'll have a much clearer picture of the trajectory of the "new UAL" (United in name only, it's Continental in most other respects

) when the JCBA and SLI are completed. At the current pace of negotiations, that could be a long wait.
Oh, and don't overlook the fact that part of the United of the 70's-90's included the '85 strike. Management sets the tone, and other than during the '94-'00 ESOP years, the tone has not been ringing well for the employees since CEO Pat Patterson retired decades ago.
Just make sure your desire to be here is grounded in reality, not a fantasy vision of how it used to be. Good luck.
