Lancaster, Canal Winchester, Pataskala, Pickerington and Newark/Heath are all decent area's. Having grown up in the area I highly recommend against living in Columbus-proper. My brother in law lives in a subdivision right under the apporach/departure path for rwys 28/10, used to be a nice neighborhood..now it's turned into HUD housing and he can't wait to move out. Botton line..stay out of the city! All the places I have listed are fairly safe, decent cost, and within 30-35 minutes (traffic depending around 270,70, US 33/40) drive of the airport.
