Default CMH living/renting

This may not be the best forum to ask, but it seems to have a high viewership and I would suspect a number of CMH based pilots.Ergo...
What geographic area would be good to look in for renting? Interested in 1. Safety of area, 2.somewhat close to the airport 3.we have a 60# dog, so would want a residential type area with sidewalks and hopefully some parks
(don't wish to waste time googling rental prop and find out when actually look at it that we need automatic weapons to live in the area)
Any insight from locals "in the know" would be appreciated

Lancaster, Canal Winchester, Pataskala, Pickerington and Newark/Heath are all decent area's. Having grown up in the area I highly recommend against living in Columbus-proper. My brother in law lives in a subdivision right under the apporach/departure path for rwys 28/10, used to be a nice neighborhood..now it's turned into HUD housing and he can't wait to move out. Botton line..stay out of the city! All the places I have listed are fairly safe, decent cost, and within 30-35 minutes (traffic depending around 270,70, US 33/40) drive of the airport. Hope this helps!

Dublin, Upper Arlington, Worthington, Powell, New Albany are going to be the safest, but they are also a little more pricey. Gahanna is good and it's close to 270 and the airport.

I lived in Gahanna a couple of years. It was a GREAT place to live. Five minutes to the airport, close to the mega shopping area of Easton, but has the quiet night life of Gahanna. I lived in the apartment complex Vista at Rocky Fork. It was a little higher than some, but very secure, spacious bedrooms, responsible management. A couple of years ago it was $700 for a one bedroom. I made it work on a first year regional FO budget. The link is:

Good luck in Columbus -- You will enjoy your time there.

Gahanna, Worthington, Westerville, or Blacklick are where you should look. No matter what, stay outide of the 270 loop. Residences at Towne Center are not too bad, I lived there for 2 years.

German Village and Brewery District are awesome if you like areas with brick streets, old homes, and a sense of history.

This is probably the best site to find apartments for rent in those areas. Or just walk/drive around the neighborhood and you'll find plenty of "For Rent" signs.
