XJT has a fairly respectable contract, and i think in the next few years youre going to see ALPA recover a lot of what was given up after 9/11 the next time everyone goes to the table. then everyone will say "oh wow unions are awesome." ALPA again. please remember that unions may not be anywhere near perfect, but they give you some very IMPORTANT rights and protection, and if you have to pay 2% of your pathetic salary for it, hey im all for it!
The only problem with this is that big D has given up 50% of their pay...roughly. That is a 100% pay increase when they come back to the table to recover what they have lost! They are main line...how long will it take for a regional to make up the 10-20% it has given? XJT was the only carrier to keep or raise "the bar" that Comair went on strike for. This is the new way of the regionals. The pay will forever be slashed for the "growth opportunity". I hope that I am wrong.
