hmmm i wouldnt bash unions just yet. XJT has a fairly respectable contract, and i think in the next few years youre going to see ALPA recover a lot of what was given up after 9/11 the next time everyone goes to the table. then everyone will say "oh wow unions are awesome." And then the next time theres an economic downturn, guess whos going to get blamed for it... ALPA again. please remember that unions may not be anywhere near perfect, but they give you some very IMPORTANT rights and protection, and if you have to pay 2% of your pathetic salary for it, hey im all for it!

and i know this is just a repeat just like another thousand threads so just close the thread now

again i dont want to start a fight but it's just a discussion, i'm just asking quetions to find out what eveyones opinion is. To me it economically makes sense why LCC's are coming up and becoming successful.
I agree. But it's still the reason pay has declined.

I think is wrong when a company cries bankrupcy and gets the contract thrown out and then, the same judge who allowed the throwing out of contract blocks a strike. I'd call that bad faith bargaining.

The only problem with this is that big D has given up 50% of their pay...roughly. That is a 100% pay increase when they come back to the table to recover what they have lost! They are main line...how long will it take for a regional to make up the 10-20% it has given? XJT was the only carrier to keep or raise "the bar" that Comair went on strike for. This is the new way of the regionals. The pay will forever be slashed for the "growth opportunity". I hope that I am wrong.

I'd call it bribery. Or rampant Republicanism.
