A more important question, do you really want to eliminate the companies that require it and limit yourself to the companies that don't?
Additionally, if you get furloughed from a company that doesn't require it and you don't have the 1000, you will have limited opportunities finding a new job.
I think it's a matter of opinion really. Some guys have zero desire to fly cargo (me included) so seeing UPS and FedEx as not an option isn't really a big deal.
I think with the upcoming retirements and movement at the majors, it doesn't make much sense unless someone really wanted to go to SWA. I think most guys will jump on the first airline that calls regardless of their total amount of TPIC.
Again, just my opinion.
