My understanding of the purchase is that it isn't intended to make money. Nor is it fully intended that the product be utilized on DAL Airplanes. My take is that the purchase is intended to smooth out fuel price cavitations created by speculators. The volatility is what kills us. From a few articles I've read, it seems that Delta will be in the business of trading jet fuel and the byproduct thereof to get us fuel at lower costs from refineries serving other parts of the country.

This is really a cost savings measure.
