Disagree. Not "falling on your sword", is NOT the same thing as "playing no role". It's not surprising it's an Eagle pilot rationalizing this philosophy as arguably, Eagle has the most dysfunctional and corrupt union in the airline industry whose pilots are so flaccid, they aren't even WILLING to play a role in the first place. In essence, this fiefdom is running around out-of-control and unchecked by a level of apathy that staggers the imagination. In fact, one domicile REFUSES to adhere to ALPA C & B and hold a regularly scheduled meeting apparently because of concern the reps may be unseated resulting in a domino collapse of the current dictatorial regime.

Sad to see it now only takes a year or two at Eagle before one embraces the idea that they are helpless and impotent. Perhaps if more spent less time with cheese doodles and TV, there would be less "fat idiots in their living rooms" and more assertion in the future of their so-called careers. I guess at that point, riding the coattails of others (mainlines), is all that's left to do ?
