Sometimes there are new users so completely clueless, angry, and unable to use the search tools, but fortunately those cases are rare. While we don't like to limit access to the pilot forums, sometimes new users earn that restriction. This is a community and as the admin I want to be responsive to the forum users, but I firmly believe giving a leg up to someone without connections or insight is just good karma.

We were all there at one time, relax and pay it forward.

As for the registration email, it doesn't have to be an airline email, just a non-freemail account.

I joined this forum in 2006 when I was a junior in High School. I've been actively reading/posting every since. I went into the Navy, did all my ratings, went to college, and now I'm working on a CFI. There's a good chance I've been reading this longer than a lot of guys, but I've was never an airline pilot.

However, because I've been reading these forums, I've learned. I've learned more reading these forums than I ever did in any "airline pilot ops" class when I was ERAU. There's a ton of *****ing and moaning on these boards, but there is still a lot of good info to be read for guys that aren't airline pilots just yet. It's pretty eye-opening.
