#3... is not so far fetched I know lots of guys at AE and S5 who have been there 15-20 years because they like their situation..... fairly decent pay, most likely LIVE in base... probably to 5-8 % of the seniority list so they bid and get what they want to fly..ie.. good QOL.
Being hired at 50 yrs old is a good reason too. Regionals like guys around that age. They figure that they'll stick around for the long haul. Hell, at that age, one would only have 14-15 years on the flight deck anyways. It makes sense to stay put unless you got an inside track on things at say for instance Delta, UPSCO, or some really sweet corporate gig.
