Rick you can teach commercial without the AGI because as a CFI you can teach commercial students. From what I've gathered the AGI allows you do a few things. A)Get your gold wings and B) you don't have to keep documentation of either the students writtens or don't have to keep up with endorsements... I can't remember anymore. I just know the AGI helps you get gold seal and you to slack on a little paperwork. I guess I wont' check the box then.
Right now I just opened up my logbook pro and have only 800hrs in it. So I'm roughly 1000 hrs short. Tomorrow is going to be a very busy day lol. The way they ask questions on hours in each type of aircraft is a little to indepth in my book but I guess I'll have to do it.
Yes, a cfi can teach any ground that a BGI or AGI can, I did not mean to imply otherwise. I never had much interest in the gold seal thing I guess, my future cfi activities are pretty limited by the airlines.
