ASA had no such policy, nor any other regional. I had friends go to ASA (who along with CMR was growing like gangbusters due to DAL parking the 727 and 737-200 and replacing them with RJ fleet) and they started at the bottom on probation.
DALPA went to the CMR MEC and asked for them to ask CMR mgmt to accept DALPA pilots on furlough for interviews without requiring them to RESIGN from DAL.
CMR MEC said we kind of like the policy anyway, but for a little quid pro quo we'd see what could be done (ultimately nothing). Meanwhile, 100's of DAL furloughees went to ASA, SKYWEST, EXPRESSJET, Horizon, and Jetblue (all with the ability to be recalled until 2014)
Most at DALPA realize that current CMR FO's probably weren't around during that time, but junior DAL pilot's will have a long memory (and short sympathy) for any CMR pilot from the 2001 timeframe. But not to worry, US AIR is hiring.
Kharma does indeed come-round
I'm still shocked at how pilots treat pilots based on what they think the pilot group should have given them. As noted in your post, Comair management instituted the policy for the furloughed Delta pilots to resign their seniority numbers. While it is true that the rank and file elect the union leadership it is also true that the rank and file members don't get to beat down JCL's or National's door and demand a change to policy. Sure you can commence recall procedures of your elected officials but how time consuming is that? I fully support priority treatment for any furloughed pilot but get off your entitlement horse.
