In the end, this outcome is the inevitable result of RJ crews asking for mainline groups to "take back scope". What did you think would happen, the mainlines would hire you, one for one, as MD-88 pilots? There WILL be consolidation in the regionals and that fact WILL result in fewer pilots required unless their is economic growth to expand the industry. Retirements might offer new seats, but are not expansion, only replacements.

For those wishing mainline groups didn't "sell" scope, if they hadn't done so, how would you have gotten a flying job otherwise?
