I'm just throwing this out there. I haven't read the agreement at all, however, I'm going to state the obvious. Comair is going away. Out of business. Kaput. I'm sure the MEC negotiators did the best job they could to get what they could for severance for the pilots. Unfortunately, they most likely had ZERO leverage with the company going under and likely had to bargain hard for every penny they could get.
What leverage did the negotiators have to bargain with? What my knowledge of how negotiations work, my guess is not much to nothing at all. My guess is they had no bargaining capital to use and were in no position to be making demands for things. I'm sure they had to fight for every cent. Perhaps a thank you to them is in order for getting what they could out of Delta.
I don't mean to sound insensitive. I'm just trying to be realistic about things. Let's face it, everyone at Comair is getting screwed. Everyone. I'm sure the negotiating team did the best job they could to minimize the screw job as much as possible for as many people as possible.
