exactly... not sure why he would give you a "solo endorsement" when you are already a certified pilot and this is an add-on rating. Many insurance companies flat out will not insure a flight school if they let students solo multi/complex aircraft. So they came up with "supervised solo" time to get around the insurance companies. You should not of logged that as PIC until you were a certified multi-engine pilot.
