My viewpoint I hope I can share with you...

1.) It's an 8year "concessionary" contract. Why lock ourselves into something for 8 years! If it was a 2 year concessionary contract, that is a different conversation.

2.) "Job Protection" (or "furlough protection"). There is only a "job protection" under 8 years IF "two" things continue. The furlough protection is ONLY VALID if: a.) American Eagle remains a wholly-owned company. At any point that AE becomes spun off and independent from AMR, the "job protection" is invalid. b.) AA "AND" AE remain the same. If AA "or" AE merges with anyone the job protection is INVALID. One or both of these things will LIKELY happen. AMR has made comments recently to make it a point to seriously look into spinning us off again after bankruptcy. And the second item, we have all heard about the confidence in an AA merger with someone.

3.) AE doesnt have a single plane NOW, and there is provisions in the current TA that AE will CONTINUE to not own any planes. We are essentially a "pilot for hire" organization. At any point, AMR could take our planes and let another pilot group fly them. (this brings up a different coversation, what airline has enough pilots to fly them) BUT, point is AE doesnt even have any planes. Just pilot for hire.

4.) PBS is introduced. Lineholders balanced with Reserve days each month. And reserve will change.

PBS is "preferential" to the company. They will be able to reassign you WHENEVER they want to. Every day.

Lineholders (regardless of seniority) will have ~3-5 reserve days each month.

Reserve will be like flight attendant reserve where they will have "flight time balancing". i.e. flight attendants on reserve now are called-out out of order and have "flight time balancing". A senior pilot on reserve (which could be senior pilot number 1 who is a lineholder), on his reserve day he would be most senior but because they are required to "flight time balance" all reserve pilots, he would be required to fly to balance the reserve list.

****BOTTOM LINE****
It is a concessionary contract locked in for 8 years. You see yourself gone in a year or two cus of pilot shortage. BUT, would you be happy under these work rules for 8 years?

PLEASE READ THE CONTRACT AND SMALL PRINT! Don't be that pilot who thinks if I vote YES for a 8 year contract "my job will be protected". There are loopholes written in the contract for C****t sake!
