Just to take it a step farther, as l8 said earlier, all of the prognosticated CCIA expansion is based on "supposed to" get airplanes. Well, ATI is "supposed" to get more 767s as well, a mix of -200s and -300s, one announcement said basically 1 per quarter, and another one every two months "or so". We "supposedly" have a number of potential business contracts in the pipeline outside of DHL and LAN, and we have qualified people on the street who can be recalled quickly (in this day and age, I'm guessing most are in a position to come back, and I hope they do - to a man, they're a great group), and I don't really care if it's rubber dog poop. And for whoever recalled our TOL and MCI losses of years ago - c'mon! If you want to bring that ancient history up, then you're putting ATI right up there with FedEx. So thank you!
I could be wrong, but it has been my impression that we are only limited from providing CVG with -200s. I can't find the document, maybe someone here has it, but if that is correct, nothing says we can't do CVG with additional -300s, if DHL asked. Our LAN-dedicated -300 will apparently become available shortly, as LAN brings on their own 777 freighters. The -300 in Bahrain is basically underutilized. Another -200 could do the job over there. Our mid-90s reliability is a bit short of our goal, but the impression some of you have is laughable. And all it would take is a stroke of the pen to allow us onto the CVG ramp unfettered and perform ANY of the flying currently done by CCIA.
What else does ATI bring? Let's see, B50 ops specs that make most "real" airlines drool, and the means to use it. What's that you say, you'd like for us to take your radioactive dolphins with AIDS and their lithium ion battery-initiated Class 1.1 devices to an undisclosed day VFR airfield in a part of the world that Christiane Amanpour won't even go? Tomorrow? You got it! Oh, and it needs to be a combi because of the dolphin handlers. You got it! And BTW, the recovery field is Cat 3. You got it!
Could we be shut down tomorrow and have our 76s transferred to ABX? Of course that could happen. Wouldn't endear ATSG to to our DoD customer of so many years, so I'm guessing bad move. The losses we are experiencing are programmed. They know why and where the money is going, and have a pretty good idea of when the flow will reverse. New management, personal opinions aside, is tasked with fixing ATI. Merging with CCIA was/is part of the plan. I'm sure it will continue to be. Letting either one go is both detrimental and counter-intuitive. Voting this thing down is just another step in the process.
