Just like states offering type ratings as part of the whole unemployment situation. Absolutely horrible use of national money but if you are one of the people taking advantage of it then it's an absolutely sweet deal.
If it is such a "sweet" deal, why haven't you volunteered for flight training thru ROTC? National defense is a core responsibility of any national government. Our's costs about 4% of GDP, easily affordable and not the cause of our deficit or debt. It was around 13% in the JFK years and we weren't bankrupt then, were we?
