They are more into how computers interface with the airplane. Young people who take a look at the panel of my Cessna 150 are taken back at how primitive it is. I remember feeling the same when I took my first look inside the flight deck of an Aeronca Champ.
They would rather blow 7 grand on building an awesome flight simulator than to actually fly a plane. Even drivers licenses are down for teenagers. Why drive when all your friends are online anyway?

There will always be more applicants than positions. At least at the Legacy/National/Freight carriers.
Just looked at a picture of me in the left seat of a 727 (9 years ago). Looks like a dinosaur (The plane, not the pilot

) compared to the MD-11.
Big hiring boom coming, if the world doesn't implode. Anybody got a flight school they want to sell?
