Are you kidding? Unions resort to self-help to improve pay and working conditions. That has a direct effect on the quality of life for labor families.
Using the old, "I had to feed my family" excuse to cross a picket line is just that...an excuse. It has nothing to do with putting food on the table and everything to do with getting in a left seat out of seniority.
To say pilots - generally well-educated, intelligent individuals - cannot find some kind of temporary job to feed the family is ludicrous. Sell the house, sell the toys, pull the kids out of private school if you have to, but don't cross that line. You'll earn the label and everything that goes with it...for the rest of your life.
