This is an ATI MEC update with 1 new item.

Additional Furloughs – The MEC received the unfortunate news that there will be additional furloughs as of tomorrow. We are saddened to report that management notified us of 9 more first officer furloughs due to complications with the DHL contract in Bahrain. Management informed us that this furlough does not have anything to do with the 727 retirements as they will be replaced one for one with 757 aircraft.

Your MEC understands how terrible this situation is with the holidays approaching and is very disappointed that some of our crewmembers are in this predicament. To those affected, please utilize the ALPA Furloughed Pilots Support Program that is in place to assist you.

Management did provide additional information that this furlough will be cancelled if current negotiations with DHL on crew costs can be satisfied or if the Asia flying starts up as scheduled on January 15, 2013. The MEC hopes that one of these scenarios happens and more crewmembers will be recalled.

We will keep you informed if anything changes with this situation.
What a surprise! Of course, they'll be thrilled to announced that the furloughs are cancelled right after the first week in December.
