The simple fact is this.... Back during the BAX days, ATI was the only ATSG airline consistently in the black. Once BAX was over, Cappy was able to pick up more DHL domestic flying while ATI was locked out. Cappy was also able to reduce overhead a lot quicker while ATI was running at something like 60 employees per airplane at one point right after the -71s were parked (the recent house cleanings over the last year has helped). So while it may look like Cappy is doing better NOW, a simple search of the history will show the entire story. However, aviation is the "what have you done for me now business" so the recent numbers can't be overlooked; I'll give Cappy that. Yet I seem to recall a couple LARGE FAA fines that weren't paid by Cappy before the merger.... Just sayin'

It's been said before and worth saying again; Cappy brought 3 757s to the party (loyal workforce aside). That is literally it. Their operating certificate/Op Specs are very basic (don't even have the RNAV SID/STAR Op Spec) and the "temporary" black was already noted above.
