I don't see how "selling" leave back would work in your favor regardless if you have a job or not. Unless you owed someone money and they were threatening to break your legs

Here was my situation. I had a separation date of 31AUG08. As of July 1, I did not have a job lined up. If I did I would have gone terminal and started then. Because my interviews had all been cancelled I was forced to look for a real job. As you probably know contractors and civilian employers in general dont look at you or care until you're within about a month of your separation date and most contractors (defense) wouldnt allow you to work on terminal (depending on contract). So...with no job it made sense for me to work until 31AUG drawing he same pay/benefits then take the leave buyback on top of that. Make sense?
