I bet a merger is announced with new paint scheme, in a big ceremony of koom-by-yah (spell?) and we are one family, one brand now

Years ago, I knew the PPG rep who hung out/worked at Delta in ATL and he said the typical plane back then (they have gotten bigger since) took 40-50 gallons of polyurethane paint. Throw in the labor and materials cost of stripping, priming, taping and spraying and its one helluva bill per airframe.

I know a handful of DAL pilots who weren't pleased with mother Delta repainting the planes post-bankruptcy because of the obvious cost. As they said, if DAL could afford to re-brand the planes, they could afford to give us a raise.
