IIRC Air Canada wanted to go into LAX to replace the stop they had to make in HNL because customs there was too much of a pain in the arse, the 767 had to make the stop either way. Now that they're getting 777's they are going to fly direct without the stop in HNL, the LAX idea is scrapped. Finally they're getting rid of those gas guzzeling A340's .
