Management also announced that they will begin recalls on the s-UAL side as well with a paltry 85 of 1436 being recalled starting in March. While this is allowed under the T&PA, the fact that it is being done after the JCBA has been ratified and with a known timeline to Seniority List Integration (SLI) completion is an unconscionable and highly provocative move by senior management. It is a slap in the face to every legacy United pilot.
The MEC gave management many options to avoid this. We told them that this would throw gasoline on the still-smoldering embers of our distrust, but they refused to heed. Needless to say, this may profoundly abrogate the seniority of many UAL pilots no matter what domicile they fly out of. Because of the no bump/no flush provision of the T&PA, the pilots who are awarded these bids may hold them out of seniority.
There is no sugarcoating the effects of this CAL bid. There is no spinning the abomination and insult that this is to the pilots of s-UAL when we will have an ISL right around the corner. We will continue to protest this in the strongest manner possible, and we will use every possible resource to ensure that these bids are not prematurely awarded ahead of ISL. We will keep you posted on any progress.

Ladies and Gentlemen of Council 34,
Yesterday, UCH management announced 589 bids for the s-CAL pilots (
a good portion of which were never filled from the last s-CAL system bid). Included in these bids are 210 captain vacancies, 68 wide-body captain vacancies, and 59 wide-body first officer vacancies (
all being available on s-CAL metal only). 270 of these bids are repeated from the August 2012 CAL system bids (
duh. see above). Management also announced that they will begin recalls on the s-UAL side as well with a paltry 85 of 1436 being recalled starting in March (
in addition to offering leaves in March and April). While this is allowed under the T&PA, the fact that it is being done after the JCBA has been ratified and with a known timeline to Seniority List Integration (SLI) completion is an unconscionable and highly provocative move by senior management. It is a slap in the face to every legacy United pilot (
we wanted to have our cake and eat it too at s-CAL expense).
The MEC gave management many options to avoid this. We told them that this would throw gasoline on the still-smoldering embers of our distrust, but they refused to heed. Needless to say, this may profoundly abrogate the seniority of many UAL pilots no matter what domicile they fly out of (
don't end a sentence with a preposition). Because of the no bump/no flush provision of the T&PA, the pilots who are awarded these bids may hold them out of seniority
(notwithstanding the fact that they actually belong to the s-CAL pilots and all of this was agreed to back in 2010).
There is no sugarcoating the effects of this CAL bid. There is no spinning the abomination and insult that this is to the pilots of s-UAL when we will have an ISL right around the corner (
we are the only pilots here and screw s-CAL for still following their POS contract for system bids, even though the new one doesn't affect that yet). We will continue to protest this in the strongest manner possible, and we will use every possible resource to ensure that these bids are not prematurely awarded ahead of ISL (
what's s-UAL's is s-UAL's and what's s-CAL's is s-UAL's). We will keep you posted on any progress.

this isn't going the way we wanted it to go.......)
In Disgust, (
kicking ourselves because we didn't put ANY of this in the new contract)
