Up to and including Cat-2, we can land if vis is reported below mins once inside FAF. Obviously, this assumes you can see what you're supposed to see at mins.

One thing no one's mentioned is that this applies only in the U.S. or US military bases (at least in our OPSPECS).

Anywhere else in the world, if vis is reported below what's required inside the FAF, a MAP is required. This is also the case for Cat-3 no matter where we are.

I was always under the impression that the U.S. domestic option to "take a look" if reported vis falls inside the FAF was unique to our country and the rest of the world just chose not to allow it. Maybe that's a wrong assumption and the restrictions we use outside the United States are self-imposed by my company.

Do any of you folks have the option to do this internationally in their OPSPECS?
