Absolutely better. Not even close.
If you want to make this conversation interesting, ask about A320 FO time compared to Cessna 310 PIC time or Caravan time...but Large turbine PIC to FO time...I can't believe this thread is 4 pages long.
As far as keeping your logbook...do not misrepresent your "safety pilot" or "sole manipulator" time on an airline application...you will not be the first...you will not be the last, but it will make an already stressful situation even more stressful. It's really not worth it.
What I did that seemed to have worked, is I created a column in my logbook called 121 turbine PIC. I then ONLY logged the most pure T-PIC time. It didn't even make 100 hours difference in the whole scheme of things and I was glad to be able to point to that entry in my logbook and say that all that time was as the Captain...not IOE...no simulators...not Part 91 ferries...not as an FO while manipulating the controls...no safety pilot stuff.
I interviewed at Delta, SWA, and Alaska and any questions about my logbook simply stopped after I made that statement.
Not saying I wouldn't have gotten a job without doing it, but it at the very least allowed for one less thing to be stressed about in the interview.
