Turn it on when cleared to taxi. Off passing 10k unless really bumpy. Back on descent through 10. A double bell when cleared to takeoff, and a double ding when cleared to land.
Not to hijack the thread, but how many of you will normally go back and check on the pax during the trip. I fly with one guy that will do it on a 30 minute leg, and another that won't do it on a 5 hour leg. We don't carry an attendant.
