1. IMA's get:

IDT's - lodging(up to whatever billeting charges, approx $53/nite) but no per diem.
AT - lodging and per diem and to/from mileage

2. totally up to your supervisor. Most IMA's I know come in 3-6 times per year.

3. most likely HHQ jobs more secure than ANG but you never know.

also if you live > 100 miles from your ANG/AFRES unit location, then all non reimbursed expenses are deductible from your federal income (NOT subject to 2% rule). e.g. you can deduct mileage to/from (on IDT's), 50% of per diem, etc.
