Up until now I have been creating a new line for each aircraft swap. However, I noticed because of the rounding conversion of hours to tenths, the totals in my logbook for the entire day or trip can be a tenth or two off from what the actual trip key says. Not sure yet exactly how much off my logbook is from the last year, but I’m estimating at least 10hrs difference from what the company has on file.
Example below:
Day 1
Aircraft 1: 1hr34min = 1.6hrs logged
Aircraft 2: 1hr42min+1hr52min = 3.6hrs logged
Aircraft 3: 40min = .7 logged
Adding totals in logbook: 1.6+3.6+.7= 5.9 logged
Total for day: 5:48hrs would equal 5.8hrs on file with with company
.1 difference for this day
For this one day trip there would be a .1 overage in my logbook compared to what the airline would have on record. This could add up into a large discrepancy over time. Im curious to what others do and if you have any suggestions on fixing it.
Thanks
I wouldn't worry about 6 minutes. Just wait until you know what the company has on file and log that, if it's correct. Just be careful to keep proper time in the future. The company time wont be used in future jobs, just your time you log in your logbook. Besides, it's typical to round your time on airline applications anyway.
