Actually, First Year Pay went down during the 1991 Contract. From 33K to 26K. Had to pay for those Captain raises. Happen again in 1998. Stayed at 26K and the 9 year "B" scale remained. The one's really hosed were the 1991 to 2000 hires. 11 years to up-grade and a decade of the B-scale. And least it was finnally fixed, almost.
Yeah, you are right. Now we have those snot nosed newhires from 2004 and early 2005 (like Freightpuppy) who got the 40k bonus and over 100k their second year. (sarcasm intended)
