That was the only reason the CBA passed was so the -10 folks could get retrained instead of having their "positions eliminated" like the 727 guys back in the day. That was the only reason Omni kept the last seven DC-10's on property was to pass the CBA with all of the silly nonsense inside there. Omni played the fear factor and won. All the 10 folks went home collected salary while waiting to get retrained on the other two fleets. Some sat for the better part of last year on their monthly salary at home. No furloughs that I am aware of.

When Omni parked the 10's they intended to downgrade and furlough. A few of the downgrades happened and no one got f'ed. Before now the only furlough was in 2008 and that was by seat and fleet, which happened shortly after the union was voted in and the current CEO, who came from many years as CEO at Ryan International btw, went into that position at Omni. The furloughs only lasted a couple of months in 2008 if my memory serves me correctly.

Unless Omni has severely improved their utilization of crew members (aka spent mucho money in upgrades to AIMS) I don't see this lasting long. My last year at the O was primarily in the left seat with the proper FO compliment. Very rarely did I fly with other CA's. I see this as nothing more than another kick in the groin to the pilot group while business is slow.

Just my 2 cents.
