I'm not suggesting you plan your career entirely around the long shot of getting hired at UPS or FedEx, but if you want to ever be considered for UPS, you're going to need 1000 PIC Heavy-jet, Transoceanic. That's never going to happen at the Regional.
The average age of my UPS new-hire class was 39, back in '06. There were ONLY two kinds of pilots in there: Military heavy-jet (KC-10, C-17, and C-5) and 747/MD-11 Civilian Cargo Captains. No fighter pilots.
Even if you never do leave for UPS or FedEx, a lot of the 747 Cargo guys live some really nice lives. See the World. Nothing is cooler than the -400.
