It depends on the company. Some places have had bad previous experience with ex or furloughed airline guys and tend to be pretty shy about going that direction again. Other places seem to prefer them. Sometimes the department manager is ex-airline, so there'd be no stigma with him/her.

In my experience, I've seen more airline guys used in a part-time scenario than anything else, in several companies. Not as much risk when you can just stop calling the guy if he doesn't seem to be working out. Having said that, I wouldn't hesitate to hire an ex airline guy/girl after using them part-time and finding that it's a good fit.
