AA promoted Flight Attendants into mid/upper management. That is why at AA the Cheif Pilot VP of Ops is BELOW VP of Inflight.

As the Managing Director Flight Training, Chris has overall responsibility for planning, development, implementation and maintenance of all policies, programs and budgets necessary to accomplish all phases of American Airlines pilot training. This includes the Fleet Training programs, Program Development, Instructors, Crew Qualifications, Simulator Support, Simulator Evaluation, and multiple FAA functions, including the Approved Training Manual (Pilots, Flight Attendants, and Dispatchers), Advanced Qualifications Program, Flight Department Administrative Guide, FAA training directives, and Check Airman/Instructor tracking.
Born in Kinston, North Carolina, Chris moved to Dallas, Texas in 1973 and attended the St. Mark's School of Texas, graduating in 1987. Chris holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in General Business and multiple FAA certificates, including a dispatcher's certificate, instrument and commercial pilot - multi engine and all instructor certificates.
Before coming to American Airlines in 1993, Chris worked for flight schools and air carriers in Oklahoma and Florida. Since then, Chris has worked as a dispatcher at American Eagle, an operations manager at the DFW Ramp Tower, in numerous management positions within Flight Training, and in his last position as Managing Director Flight Training Operations. Since 1997, Chris has been tasked with training correspondence with the FAA and special projects such as the B737/B777 New Fleet Task Force and the Reno and TWA Integration Teams. Chris completed American's B737-800 training in September of 1998.
