new fo cant hold phx, it is the most senior base. Hawaii, is most jr. But guys should be able to bid out pretty quickly as long as hiring continues, or avoid it if toward the top of a new hire class. CLT, IAD, or ORD is realistically where you will end up. They all have similar seniority at the bottom.

Schedules on the mainland for a new FO will be reserve with 11 days off per month. You can bid between 3 to 6 days on, with minimum of 2 days off between. However, being jr, you may not get the days you request and could get stretches of 6 days on randomely with 2,3,4 off between.

Rsv Shifts are 0400 to 1600. Or 1200 to 2400 or 1900 to 0700

They go in seniority of 0400 most jr, 1900 most sr.

Plan to fly everyday you are on, or to sit airport ready reserve which is usually an 8 hour shift.

Reserve will be built onto the end of every trip. So if you are a noon to midnight guy and you finish up a trip at 4pm, you will be put back on rsv until 12 hours beyond your start time of that day. If that makes sense.

You will fly on average 40 to 60 hours a month because rsv is not super efficient. And if you live in base you may get a fair amount of nights at home btween back to back shorter trips or turns.

Commuting in any way shape or form on rsv will be a challenge. Guys do it, but if you need to be home because of kids or something it will be miserable.

When you are able to hold a line, commuting wont be much easier because junior lineholders are getting the same 11 days off a month.

If you move to the base, life wont be too bad, you may even get a day or two where you dont get called, from time to time.

Training dept in my opinion is phenominal, always has been.

Chief pilots ARE on your side and will bend over backward if you dont lie to them.
