Say you're the Captain on that flight, what do you tell the passengers in a situation like that? Would you just go on with the landing without any type of announcement or actually tell the passengers the truth?

Something I've always wondered.

I remember a family friend telling me her plane had to go around because the Captain said there was a "dog" on the runway. But later in the day they heard on the radio that a plane had to go around because of a miscommunication.

And on a flight down to Palm Beach around this time last year the flight got insanely bumpy. Like, horribly bad (though you airline guys are probably used to it ) and the Captain announced "flight attendants please be seated for arrival" or something like that, don't remember exactly, but we just leveled out probably 20 minutes before coming from Jersey going to Florida. So they probably just said that to comfort us.

This probably isn't the right thread to ask but I'm just curious.
