if you've never flown a frasca 142 or 131 for the matter, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get a little time in one. Most flight schools however have them, and it should be possible to hop in one for an hour or so. When i was instructing, my school owned one of each (both pos's) the 142 had no visual display (sounds crappy) but works perfect, because every approach will end in a missed, which means you'll get really good at flying the procedures. Think we rented them for like 30/hr (expensive) but w/ cfi discount, it'd cost me 3/hr which meant i basically lived in the thing for months before my interview.

PS-

I wouldn't go paying tons of money to fly a CRJ/ERJ sim anywhere, you can get hired onto a company without that, and that company will pay to have you fly their simulator. Why spend bux for something you can get for free?
