The 142 is great to get into because it is hands down the biggest piece of sh!t to pose as an aircraft...ever. And I don't think the visuals on any of them work...ever. So, if you can find one, it'll be great practice because nothing will be as pitch sensitive and roll excessive as that bucket of smashed @ssholes.
Edit - I wouldn't pay for one though. Even that $3/hour feels like highway robbery.

I used a PCATD to prepare for my sim ride at SkyWest. It seemed to work fine for me. Good to get time in anything you can to just brush up. Nobody flies it perfectly for their interview, I didn't, but the PCATD help brush up on the scan and procedures. That is what they will be looking for, scan and procedures. Good Luck!
