My dilemma comes from the question that is on the application website. It simply states, “Are you able to report to assigned domicile within 1-˝ hours of contact?” Because the question on the website is written the way it is, I have marked that answer as NO. I do however have a plan in place that will allow me to meet the 1.5 hour starting the day of my rotation as mentioned above. In fact as a last resort the wife (an A&P mechanic) has floated the idea of getting an airplane so I could make 1.5 hours even from home. As we all know the expense of that idea makes it not really feasible.

My fear right now is that marking that question as NO, I am going to be eliminated by a computer before I even get the chance to explain my plan for making all my flights on time. I guess I am looking for some advice on this matter. Should I keep the answer as NO because I live 3 hours away and risk never getting a call, or change it to YES because I have a plan in place to meet the 1.5 hour on the day my rotation starts? Perhaps a better question might also be how do you interpret the intent of the question on the website?

Any thoughts are appreciated.
As a Flexjet pilot who has commuted 4 1/2 hours for the past seven years, I can tell you that it doesn't matter where you live so long as you are at work on time. I generally drive down to my base the night before unless it's a late show time for the trip then I'll drive down the morning of. Like the previous guy said, definitely answer "yes" to the question. And if you get an interview and they ask if you'd be willing to relocate if that's what it took then tell them "yes," as well. If hired, they will airline you from wherever you live for the first 90 days and if you need a little more time after that they're pretty good about making that happen, also. Good luck. Keep the questions coming if you need more info.
